Zoom webinar registration not working

A registration page can load while Zoom is refusing the registration. The usual causes are a closed webinar, a required question you do not collect, or a meeting link where you needed a webinar.

Symptoms

Common causes

Registration is closed or the webinar was rescheduled

A new occurrence gets a new id. The landing page still embeds yesterday's registration URL. Zoom rejects it, or shows a webinar that already happened.

Required questions the embed does not ask

Custom questions marked required in Zoom are absent from a hand-built form. Zoom rejects the post. The generic form on your site has no field to add.

It is a meeting, not a webinar

Meeting registration and webinar registration are different. A join link drops people into a waiting room, or nowhere, instead of holding a seat.

Approval is manual

Zoom accepted the registration and is waiting for you to approve it. No join link goes out. The form looked successful.

The embed domain is restricted

Zoom can limit where a registration embed runs. A new custom domain is not on that list, so the widget is blank only on the site you just launched.

Fix it

  1. Open the registration URL without your site

If Zoom says registration is unavailable, the landing page cannot fix it. Update the embed to the current webinar's registration link.

  2. Confirm it is a webinar registration link

A URL that only joins a meeting will not hold a seat. Use the registration link from the webinar, and put that on the page you are advertising.

  3. Match required fields

In the webinar's registration settings, see which questions are required. The form on your site has to collect those, or you should turn them off.

  4. Read the approval setting

Automatic approval sends the confirmation. Manual approval waits. Pick the one you meant, and look at the pending list before you call the form broken.

  5. Allow the embed on this domain

If the widget is blank on the custom domain and fine on the preview, check Zoom's embed restrictions and add the domain you launched.

  6. Register a monitor address

Use an inbox you control. You want the confirmation page and, if approval is automatic, the email. Cancel the test registration afterward.

Catch it automatically

Map the registration step and assert the confirmation. The alert includes the screenshot of the broken step. A ping on the landing page stays useful and will not notice a closed registration.

Watch the next break before a customer does.

Map the path once. The next publish does not get to fail in private.

Questions

The form says thank you and nobody is on the attendee list.

Check pending approval, and check that you opened the right occurrence. A rescheduled webinar is a new id.

Why is the embed blank only on the new domain?

The script or Zoom's domain restriction is treating the new host differently. Compare the console on both hosts.

Does the check join the webinar as a real attendee?

It can submit the public registration with a monitor address. Do not point it at a webinar where a test registration would email your list. Use a draft or cancel the test seat.
